Medical devices like knee, ankle and hip replacements are designed to alleviate pain for the Canton, IL individuals that
desperately need them. Nevertheless, in too many cases, a mistake is made in the design or production of the device that
either does not help the patient or causes further harm. In 2018, a staggering 441.3 million medical devices were recalled. Exactech itself
has stated that they sold 533,320 individual units globally that may be defective.
Usually, if you are filing a lawsuit because of an injury, you and your defective products lawyer are required to prove negligence to an insurance
adjuster, judge or jury. However, product liability claims operate under the concept of strict
liability. That means that any individual or corporation that took part in the design, manufacture, distribution
or sale of a defective product is automatically accountable for your injuries. However, you should not expect that
Exactech is going to willingly compensate you for the harm their defective products have caused. For the best possible
financial recovery you need a lawyer to empower you who knows the law, knows how much your claim is worth and will fight
until there is nothing left to fight. Get in touch with Burger Law’s expert Exactech recall lawsuit lawyers today at (314) 500-HURT. We charge no fees until we win your
case.

Although Exactech has made a commitment that the company will issue refunds to patients who were implanted with knee,
ankle or hip replacements, this does nothing to address the damages you have suffered as a result of the defective
insert or liner. While no amount of money can account for the pain and suffering and other losses you have faced because
of a faulty joint replacement, a financial recovery that seeks to provide an equal counterweight can allow you to move
forward in your physical and emotional recovery. Hire Burger Law’s product liability lawyers to fight for you. Reach out to an Exactech recall lawsuit lawyer today.
Exactech Pte Ltd, a corporation that provides healthcare providers with implants and shoulder, knee, hip, foot and ankle
replacement technologies, called for their polyethylene inserts to be removed from circulation, as they do not last as
long as expected, which can lead to serious problems for some patients. Many of these knee replacement parts have been
used in surgeries since as early as 1994.
Exactech Ultra-High Molecular Weight Polyethylene (UHMWPE) knee inserts were intended to last for eight years. However,
the inserts often did not last anywhere near that long, leading to pain, stiffness, fractures or even bone loss.
The lifespan of a knee replacement often comes down to the longevity of their polyethylene insert. Typically, inserts
are designed to not oxidize before being inserted into your knee, which is a major cause of premature failure.
Exactech’s error was not including a layer of Ethylene Vinyl Alcohol (EVOH) in the packaging, even though their designs
implied it would be there. The absence of that layer increases the chances that oxygen can leek into the insert and
cause degeneration. That degeneration can cause significant harm to the patient.
Exactech’s failure to include a second barrier in the packaging extends to their ankle inserts. After numerous doctors
and ankle replacement recipients reported the early wearing down the FDA to announce a Class 2 Device Recall. If your ankle replacement wears down prematurely, it can not only lead to
additional surgery or even another ankle replacement, but immense pain, not to mention financial losses related to the
defective product.
There are four pieces of a hip replacement:
A pair of academic investigations released in 2020, one called Early Polyethylene Failure in a Modern Total Hip Prosthesis: A Note of
Caution and another titled Early failure of a modern moderately cross-linked polyethylene acetabular
liner, both warned consumers that the acetabular liner in Extach’s hip replacements were lasting several years
fewer than expected.

Not every person implanted with an Exactech hip replacement is able to file a valid lawsuit. In order to seek a
financial recovery with the help of your Exactech hip replacement lawyer, the implant must have been manufactured
between 2004 and 2021, and you must have incurred further damages. Our knowledgeable and committed product liability

Follow Exactech’s advice and see the physician who performed your surgery as soon as possible. The physician will go
over any symptoms you are having, and take x-rays to see if the liner or inserts are failing prematurely. If your liner
or insert has not negatively affected you, your doctor will be able to advise you and come up with a gameplan for
monitoring future symptoms.

likely need tenacious legal representation to get the financial recovery you are owed. The Canton, IL Exactech recall

genuinely proving a counter balance for the the consequences of Exactech’s negligence. Your Canton, IL Exactech recall
lawsuit attorneys at Burger Law will fight for you to receive compensation for:
