Can I sue a Company if their Product gave me Cancer?

Can I sue a company if its product gave me cancer? Personal Injury Lawyer St. Louis

Do you know whether or not the products in your home are safe? Have you ever thought about the materials that were used in the production of the product, or whether prolonged contact with it will cause you to develop cancer? If a product is dangerous to have, or it’s dangerous to have come in contact with your skin, don’t you think you should be made aware of that? Don’t you think the company has a moral and legal responsibility to let consumers know if their product has a chance of causing someone to develop cancer?

Sadly, most companies will not make people aware of the dangerous side effects of using their products until they are legally forced to. Remember how everyone used to think cigarettes were safe to smoke? Or those toy science kits in the 50’s that were readioactive? Sometimes products just aren’t safe to sell, and when a company knowingly sells a product that causes cancer, they can and should be sued for the damages they’ve caused. If you’ve developed cancer after handling or using a company’s product, and you believe the cancer is related to the product, call our Personal Injury Lawyers in St. Louis as soon as possible. We don’t charge any fees for our consultations, and we never charge any fees unless we win your claim.

Can I sue a Company if their Product gave me Cancer?

Personal Injury Lawyer St. Louis

Dangerous products should always be labeled as dangerous. Unfortunately, some companies only label their products as dangerous after they’ve lost a class action lawsuit and are forced to. For many, this is too late as they didn’t have a chance to stop using the product before their cancer developed. Here are several cases where a product once thought safe actually lead to the development of cancer in the person using it:

  • Smoking Cigarattes – We now know that smoking cigarettes causes cancer, but this wasn’t always the case. The general perception of cigarettes was that they were cool, and you were cool if you smoked them. The big tobacco companies actually hid scientific studies that showed the smoking cigarettes caused cancer. It wasn’t until big tobacco was taken to court that it actually came out that yes, smoking cigarettes causes cancer. The big tobacco companies were forced to pay millions in reparations, and now all cigarette boxes have to have a warning displaying the risks of smoking.
  • Baby Powder – Johnson & Johnson marketed the use of baby powder to women who wanted to freshen up, and as a use for children after changing their diapers. What many people didn’t know is that several types of the baby powder had asbestos in it, which is a clear cancer-causing agent to humans. However, even baby powder that doesn’t have asbestos in it has been linked to causing cancer.
  • Tanning Beds – We all love sunlight and the warmth that comes with it, and having nice tanned skin in the summer months. But you may not have been aware that overexposure to sunlight can cause cancer. And to further this, prolonged use of a tanning bed is directly correlated with skin cancer. Many people don’t know this. Laying in a tanning bed for multiple hours every week drastically increases your chances of developing skin cancer.
  • Roundup Weed Killer – There are still cases being fought over in court regarding the possibility of whether Roundup causes cancer, but as of now, the consensus is that it does. Direct contact with a product that destroys plants and other organic yard material is going to have an adverse effect on you if it touches your skin.

Here is a comprehensive list of what the American Cancer Society considers to be carcinogenic. If you developed cancer after handling a product, there is a strong likelihood that you can sue that company for cancer. Remember, everyone use to think that cigarettes were safe, but it’s been proven that, yes, they do indeed cause cancer.
