Despite the decrease in drivers on the road due to the coronavirus pandemic, fatal car accidents have significantly
increased in Missouri. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, fatal accidents are up 11% compared to last
year’s numbers. As of Wednesday, 403 people have died in fatal Missouri car accidents – last year, there were 359
deaths.
According to patrol officials, this surge in fatal crashes was predetermined in April – “the wide-open roads
unleashed speeders and reckless driving.”
