(314) 500-HURTWe’ve had a ton of dangerous storms come through town over the last few weeks, so I thought it might be a good time
to remind us all about summer storm safety:
Summer storms can be a beautiful sight to behold, but they can also be dangerous. These storms can spin up fast, so
it is important to take precautions to ensure that you and your loved ones stay safe during these storms.
The first step in summer storm safety is to stay informed. Keep an eye on weather forecasts and pay attention to any
warnings or alerts issued by local authorities. If a storm is approaching, seek shelter immediately. Stay away from
windows, and avoid using electronic devices that are plugged in.
If you are outside during a summer storm, seek shelter in a building or a car. If you are unable to find shelter,
avoid open fields, high ground, and tall objects such as trees and poles. If you are swimming or boating, get out of
the water and seek shelter immediately.
It is also important to be prepared for power outages that may occur during summer storms. Have a supply of
non-perishable food, water, and other essentials on hand, including flashlights and extra batteries. Keep a first
aid kit handy in case of injury.
After the storm has passed, be cautious when venturing outside. Look out for downed power lines, broken tree limbs,
and other hazards. If you encounter any of these dangers, stay away and contact the appropriate authorities.
Summer storms can be dangerous, but by staying informed, seeking shelter, and being prepared, you can help keep
yourself and your loved ones safe. Remember to exercise caution and use common sense during these storms, and always
prioritize safety over anything else.
