Support your courts

Did you know that large well funded business and insurance companies again are trying to dismantle the Missouri court
plan?  A number of decades ago Missouri put in a plan to have judges in the City of St. Louis and St. Louis County and
Kansas City appointed by the governor from applicants selected by a bipartisan committee, rather than making all judges
in these areas run for re-election and raise money.  “The Missouri plan” is such a good idea it has been adopted by most
of the states in the United States.

This method of selecting and retaining judges is very effective and takes politics and money interest out of the
judiciary-which is supposed to be fair and impartial and not persuaded by the need to collect money to run for office. 
And further, this plan has worked very well in Missouri for decades.  This plan provides that Republican governors and
Democratic governors get to appoint judges.  Those judges are then subject to retention vote and the people get to
decide whether to retain them every four to six years depending on where they are. Both Plaintiff and defense counsel
strongly support this.  I would encourage you, your friends and your family to speak out about the Missouri plan and
tell people that you want judges free from politics and that you want to keep the Missouri court plan.
