Hi! I’m Gary Burger from Burger Law. I wanted to do a short video on Facebook Live. It’s the last workday of 2017, and I wanted to thank my clients, family and friends, and the client, family and friends of all the folks that work here for a great 2017. And, to share some of our accomplishments, Burger Law has doubled in size in the last year. We have now three offices. These are all the changes since this time 2016. At that time we had one associate and a couple of paralegals. Now, we have three full-time lawyers in addition to me, as well as three full-time amazing support staff. We have three offices. We have an office in Chesterfield and one in Belleville. You can see it across the river. And, we see folks and we help folks in Belleville and Chesterfield and all over Missouri and Illinois. Our Illinois number is 618-226-4811; that’s new for this year.
In 2017, our firm was able to settle for our clients 112 cases. In 2017, I took 153 depositions. We take a lot of depositions. I wanted to give you one prop. Sometimes we take doctor depositions for injuries of folks. We use things like these boards to show juries their injuries, or sometimes for surgeries, we do these types of things and these kinds of boards to show surgeries and the kind of surgeries and the kind of injuries people have. That’s what we do. One of the things we try to do at Burger Law is get people full compensation for their injuries, not 50% or 70% compensation but full compensation. At this time last year, I did not have a bobblehead that looked like me. This is a gift from my amazing staff. That is great. I love it.
Here’s another number for you for 2017. We have 173 Google reviews on our firm. Almost all of them are 5-star Google reviews. We’re proud of the work we do. We’re proud that folks like us. I think we’re the most Google-reviewed firm in this area and the best reviewed firm in this area.
We have 322 open files, open cases that we’re representing folks in, which is over double what we had last year, hence, the great staff that we’ve had to bring on to help me, help all our clients. So, those are some of the numbers by the year, but it’s not about the firm or me, it’s about the clients that we’ve had. We have stories upon stories on our website on the newsletters that we send out, on our Facebook page about folks we help.
And, it’s a hard cold world out there. 2017 was a tough year. It was a tough year for my clients. It was a tough year politically. It would just seem like a really tough year, a lot of divisiveness in America. So the point about the growth and the resolution of cases and stuff is we were really, I’m blessed and I have a lot of gratitude by being able to help people fight big corporations and insurance companies when they get injured. It seems like it’s a cold hard world. People don’t care as much anymore. It seems like even more important that you need lawyers like me fighting for rights, so I couldn’t be feeling more lucky or blessed to be in a place to help people.
And then, I guess, lastly, I know we joke around about the bobblehead or our reviews and stuff but I truly wish for all of our friends and family out there a great 2018. Change is great; and let go, let God; and it’s really important to understand in the world where we’re doing our New Year’s resolutions and what we’re going to do next year and the person we’re going to be, to remember the Serenity Prayer: God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference. So, as you’re progressing into 2018, let’s have clarity about what we can change and what we can’t change in our life. The things that we can’t change, don’t stress about. And think about and examine what you can change and what you can’t change. But then the things you can change, have the courage to change those, have the courage to do those in your life. I’m going to do that for my clients. I’m going to do that in my practice.
My goal for 2018 is for all of my family and friends to have a great 2018 of health and safety. Let’s be safe out there. Remember the safety rules. Don’t take risks. Be careful. Don’t drink and drive on New Year’s Eve. And, when you’re making your resolutions, set these goals and do it. Make action plans. Do it. A couple of my favorite quotes recently are this guy in Shark Tank that said, “I don’t have strategic plans. I just do things.” And so, get out there and do these, accomplish these things. Be able to distinguish between what you can accomplish and what you can’t. Don’t listen to lectures from a guy like me, but I just want to share those ideas. I wanted to share the success we had in 2017. Acknowledge that that also was a tough year for a lot of people, and wish everyone health and safety and a great 2018. Thank you very much.
