I recently had the chance to meet the Brownies at Girl Scout Troop 720 in Florissant, MO. They invited me to speak to them about beekeeping. This was a part of their "Bugs" and "Design With Nature" badges they earned that day.
Of course, I had to bring a beekeeping expert, my son William, along for the presentation! William and I began by showing them beehives, some of the tools of the trade, and some honeycomb. After talking about how we take care of the bees, we had a great Q and A session, and wow, these girls asked some great questions. One of the ones that stuck out to me the most was "How can we take care of the bees in our own neighborhood?"
If I learned anything from this experience, it is that these girls truly care about the world around them. These were some of the kindest, brightest, most considerate kids I've met, and if these kids are our future, I think we'll be just fine. Thank you to Joe Dalton (our firm's Marketing Manager), his daughter Alice and Troop 720 for inviting me. Thanks to the Girl Scouts for teaching these girls how to make the world a better place!
